As a creative it is extremely important to challenge yourself and create outlets for growth. This was one of those moments. Last January a great friend of mine, Candice Lorraine, and I decided it would be fun to play with food. When is it not fun?! We have worked together on multiple projects, we can often read each other's mind and honestly it never feels like work! We decided to create a day's worth of food all styled with a common background. In the beginning we planned on three scenes (a breakfast, a drink and a dinner), but in the end we styled six different looks simply because we kept finding more food to photograph and we were having fun! This kind of sums up our free time together - we just keep adding, photographing and putting products in different positions until the light leaves us. I hope you enjoy the gallery of images below. They are separated out into each different category, but the mood and backdrop remain the same. You can also see and read more in The Maker's Post Volume 3 that was just released!
Last March I had the amazing opportunity to mix work with friends, food and the beach - who could say no?! We started in Savannah, made our way to Fripp Island, South Carolina, and then took one quick stop in Charleston. Along with stylists Candice Lorraine and Ashley Irene Styling we first styled and photographed all different types of food from bagels to popsicles to chocolate covered cakes to cocktails which of course eventually turned into our meals for the next few days. While at Fripp Island we also worked together to design a bridal inspiration shoot using the gorgeous beach just across the street as our inspiration. Our vision was to combine two different bridal styles, light & airy and dark & moody, to represent the natural light during sunset. The dresses were each chosen to set the style for the shoots, we also used simple florals, a statement engagement ring, and two different hair styles to portray the different visions we were trying to achieve. It was so much fun working together to challenge ourselves, and we are excited to finally share these images with you! We hope you enjoy them!
I absolutely loved getting to walk around Athens with Deana and Isaac a few weeks ago! They were both students at UGA studying at the Vet School while they fell in love. Now they are both Veterinarians living in two different cities looking forward to their wedding in the fall. We were able to explore the beautiful gardens on North Campus as well as some of Deana's favorite buildings near the Vet School. It was so much fun to learn more about the history of the buildings as Deana used to be a tour guide for the campus. They also showed me where they got engaged on campus! Getting to document a special part in someone's life is definitely my favorite part of my job, but when they are this cute it's sometimes hard to stop after an hour!
I had the privilege of taking some pictures of Brynn Casey's new studio space where all the magic happens! We got to talk about her recent wedding and being newly married, what inspires her paintings, and what series might come next (cross your fingers for drift wood!!). Her ocean paintings are absolutely stunning, and I could stare at them for hours! Thankfully, I have a few prints in my office so I can pretend I am on the peaceful water instead of working. Plus, this inspiring friend of mine just launched her newly branded website yesterday! You should go check it out and buy one of her pieces to add to your collection!
